Hollifield Station Elementary School certifies for the third time with the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education ( MAEOE) Gerald Lieberman said, " Children and young people learn best when their time in the classroom is augmented by experiences in the wider community - including the natural world beyond the schoolhouse walls." We believe this to be true and know that outdoor experiences have a positive impact on a child's ability to learn, to be healthy, and to be happy. The challenges faced by human civilization and the natural environment are deeply interwoven. We want to prepare our students to become active participants in their community who are capable of making well-informed decisions that take into account the potential impacts of human activities on the environment.
